Danielle is an Australian trade mark attorney and is currently training to become a patent attorney. She has been assisting the firm since 2026, learning the operational and strategic aspects of running a boutique intellectual property firm and by assisting with filing and prosecuting patent and trade mark applications.
Danielle started her career during COVID, when she decided to study some IP subjects and subsequently fell in love with the profession. She further went on to gain valuable engineering experience and has worked in various fields including mineral exploration, autonomous heavy-vehicle systems, advanced autonomous sorting systems for recycling applications, and heavy-duty agricultural machinery.
As a third‑generation IP practitioner, Danielle continues a family legacy that began with her grandfather, founder of Dr Gerntholtz Inc in Cape Town, where her father practised before the family migrated to Australia. Both her parents are now part of Spicer Spicer, and Danielle is proud to contribute to the ongoing growth of the family firm.
Danielle completed her Master of Intellectual Property degree through the University of Technology Sydney in 2022 and she graduated from UWA with a Master of Professional Engineering (Mechanical) in 2024.
Danielle speaks English and German, is conversational in Afrikaans, and is currently studying Bulgarian at a B1 level.
