Heidi is an Australian trade mark attorney and assists her clients with filing and prosecuting trade mark applications. Heidi is also registered as a professional electronic engineer and has gained industrial experience in the fields of telecommunication, mineral exploration technologies and voltammetry analysis equipment.
Heidi started her technical career working at Telkom, the South African national telecommunications company as a project engineer before diversifying into marketing of mining explosives. Heidi furthered her commercial experience as a manager in a local Perth electronics R&D firm supporting multinational clients and then as an IP manager in a Global Mining Company.
Being involved with intellectual property has become somewhat of a tradition in Heidi's family as both her father, Dr Richard Gerntholtz, and her brother are South African patent attorneys. Heidi is currently completing her Australian patent attorney qualifications so as to follow in the footsteps of her father who established his own firm in 1970. Growing up in the family business, Heidi gained an extensive appreciation of intellectual property and has a keen interest in the commercialisation thereof.
Heidi graduated from Stellenbosch University with a Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering. Heidi further obtained a Diploma of Business Analysis and completed her Master of Intellectual Property degree through the University of Technology Sydney in 2017.
Heidi is fluent in English, German and Afrikaans.
